Leather Knee Armor

Leather Knee Armor

$70.00

This listing is for a pair of leather Knee (Poleyn) leg armor.

This style was designed to pair with my "Gondorian" style vambraces, and elbows. They are constructed much like the elbow armor that I offer, but are larger, and slightly wider in shape, which offers more protection.

They are made from 8 oz Latigo leather and feature a 2 strap buckle attachment and articulated upper leg piece. They have the option of being impregnated with wax to add rigidity to function as armor in reenactment fighting, HEMA, LARP, or whatever your hobby happens to be. As with any armor, if you do plan on using these for protection, you should wear a gambeson, or add some padding of your own ( I recommend cotton batting/pillow filler).

The single layer Knees in the picture are the black option. Be advised that if you choose to wax a lighter color it will cause the leather to darken, so the brown and the Burgundy will end up being a very dark version of those colors.

If you'd like contrasting colors when ordering the 2 layer option, let me know what colors you'd like. For color options other than the ones listed, or for custom color options, please check out the add-on listing.

As always, this item can be customized to your preferences. Feel free to message me with any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have any items in Stock, ready to ship?

Everything we offer is made to order, so will take a minimum of one week to ship out.

Why so expensive?

Our items are all made by hand. We do not mass produce anything, and every item has been designed, tested, and created by us. A lot of time and effort has gone into every item we offer, and we do our best to make sure that everything that leaves our shop lives up to our standards and hopefully yours.

Can you make a sheath for a knife other than the ones offered here?

We only offer a few different sheath options, but we operate out of a large brick & mortar cutlery store, so there's a chance we have the knife you're looking for. Contact us to set up a custom order.

Do your holsters meet IDPA regulations?

All of our belt holsters meet IDPA regulations, but our shoulder holsters do not.

Are your leather sheaths lined with Kydex?

To put in bluntly, if your leather sheath does what it's supposed to do, you shouldn't need to put a different sheath inside of it. Our leather sheaths function very well being made out of leather, and our kydex sheaths work very well without a leather lining.

Average:

The leather is of good quality, and I've no qualms with the hinging. I had issues with the fit though and could not stand with a straightened leg without the cup digging painfully into my shin bone. After shipping the armor back, they had some of the leather cut away. The fit is better now, but after wearing them for several hours for the duration for an event, my legs are bruised from where the knee armor continues to dig into my calves. Also, when I received the armor back, one of them was scratched. I was informed to try rubbing wax onto it, but this has not fixed it. While I didn't expect these to remain in pristine condition, it's disappointing to have to send something brand new in for adjustment, and receive it back already dinged up.
